Worked as a SOLIDWORKS Designer for 7+ years, and Engineering management for 3 years. Currently teach 2D AutoCAD courses and 3D modeling courses using SOLIDWORKS for the local community college. I am a Professor in the field of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD). holding a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering Technology from Southern Illinois University, an Associate in Science degree in Mechanical Design Technology from Joliet Junior College, and two design & drafting certifications in the Electro-Mechanical and Printed Circuit Board Technologies from Hall Institute in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

I have been teaching AutoCAD classes at the collegiate level for over 30 years. Serving as the CAD Program Coordinator for Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Illinois, the program’s student advisor, and the hardware and software of the CAD program’s physical plant. The drafting program is comprised of 75 CAD Workstations

My program curriculum includes learning outcomes for both 2D & 3D modeling degrees. The course work is designed for incoming freshmen and folks returning to the marketplace after parenting, career change, or injury rehabilitation. The program involves 80 classes of instruction which result in an associate in science degree in Computer Aided Design & Drafting.

As an instructor & tutor of the AutoCAD software program I guide beginners through appropriate use of the software to create “to scale” real-world drawings. Drawings developed are in compliance with the American National Standards Institute’s ( ANSI) Y14 drafting standards and guidelines. 3D design modeling, including 3D printing, scan-based “point cloud” techniques, publishing, and high-level menu system automation round out his skill set.

I am also the owner of a consulting and drafting services company in Illinois. The company provides AutoCAD training, menu system customization, consulting, and drafting services to local engineering firms.

I have over 10 years of experience using multiple CAD platforms such as Fusion 360, NX 9, Solidworks, Autodesk Inventor, and more. This experience stems from my passion for design and engineering. In high school, I was on a robotics team as a machinist and designer, creating parts using mills, lathes, and other tools while designing actuating arms and other robotic sub-assemblies. I've worked as a fabricator, welder, and machinist, taking on jobs that involved building everything from airplanes and 3D printers to hot dog carts. My work experience has taught me the most important lesson for designers: how things are made. I will not only assist with your introduction to Fusion 360 but also your start as a designer. When using CAD, it's easy to lose sight of the big picture. Many times I've designed parts that were impossible to make, and I’ll help you avoid making the same mistakes.

Hi, my name is Geoff. I have been a professional designer since 1999, and a 3D modeling teacher since 2005. I’ve taught Sketchup at Front Range Community College, the University of Colorado and have taught hundreds of students online. My interest in SketchUp started with my love for snowboarding. I started designing and building snowboard parks when I was 18. SketchUp was the perfect tool for the job. It allowed me to quickly draw the 3D ideas I had in my head. In the summers, I started teaching architects how to use the program. Compared to the complex curves of terrain parks, the straight lines in architecture were easy. Over the years I made thousands of models and have expanded my skills to include product design, 3D print modeling, construction documents, Layout, piping models, topographic models, and various other projects.
